Funimation will officially be ending its website and app services on April 2, 2024.

Since the 2021 announcement of Funimation folding into Crunchyroll, anime fans have had the option to subscribe to both services while Crunchyroll intermittently migrates Funimation's catalog on its platform. Now, Funimation users will have two months to either cancel their subscription or merge their Funimation and Crunchyroll accounts before Funimation sunsets.

According to an updated Funimation blog post, Funimation users who have never created a Crunchyroll account can migrate their account onto Crunchyroll by logging in with their Funimation credentials. Likewise, Funimation users who've held out on canceling their Funimation subscription while juggling a Crunchyroll account under the same email address can sync their accounts — with your watch history and queue automatically included — on Crunchyroll by logging in and following these steps:

  1. Combine Funimation and Crunchyroll data
  2. Replace my Crunchyroll data with Funimation data
  3. Save Crunchyroll data only
  4. Confirm the changes by selecting YES, I AM SURE
Along with announcing merger options, Funimation also informed migrating users that they may experience change in price to their subscription costs.

"Going forward, the subscription fees will be reflected in the next billing cycle through Crunchyroll or the third-party access platform, following Crunchyroll's pricing," Funimation wrote. "Future subscription fees will be reflected in your next billing cycle through Crunchyroll or via your third-party access platform to your current payment method on file."

Unfortunately, Funimation users who purchased digital copies of anime shows and movies on the platform won't be able to access them on Crunchyroll.

"We understand that you may have concerns about your digital copies from Funimation," the blog post reads. "Please note that Crunchyroll does not currently support Funimation Digital copies, which means that access to previously available digital copies will not be supported. However, we are continuously working to enhance our content offerings and provide you with an exceptional anime streaming experience. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to explore the extensive anime library available on Crunchyroll."

I got a lot of unused digital codes, shame they will go to waste :(

We kinda saw it coming when one bought the other. It would seem redundant to have both.
